A VR racing game inspired by Star Wars

Podracer is a free racing game created by an indie developer who goes by the name RavStark. This virtual reality title was inspired by the racer featured in the pod race scene from Episode I of the popular sci-fi movie franchise, Star Wars.

Just like Star Wars: Squadrons in its dedicated VR mode, Podracer is a game that is built around and aims to offer an immersive experience through virtual reality technology. What's more, it's compatible with the majority of popular VR headsets today from the likes of HTC, Oculus, or Valve.

Star Wars is a pop culture icon that has been a source of many references and inspiration for various forms of media like TV shows, comics, and even games. Speaking of the latter, they often try to cover the movies across an overarching scope. This is where Podracer is a little different since it's based on one specific aspect from the films, namely the pod racing scene in Episode I.

This is a racing game that aims to replicate the experience of the iconic racing scene through the power of VR. In it, you will be able to choose among three podracers and two tracks available, and face AI-controlled opponents in races. The controls have also been optimized to account for the various hardware figurations of the various headsets available in the market today.

Before diving into the game, just be aware that development is still ongoing and things are bound to change before its full release. Also, expect some bugs and glitches to appear here and there during your playthroughs, such as erratic AI behavior, occasional frame drops, and various environmental issues. The developer is already aware of these issues and is working to address them in future updates, among other things.

Ready, set, go

It's no secret that Star Wars games are just as popular with fans as the films that they're based on. If you own a VR headset, Podracer is another title inspired by the franchise that allows you to experience one of its most iconic scenes ever. It's already quite good even in its current state. Here's to hoping development progresses smoothly and more content gets pushed out soon.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.
